G-CARE: privacy notice and terms
DRAFT for a private pilot. A lawyer has not reviewed this text yet.
What G-CARE is
G-CARE is a private pilot. It explains a family member's medical papers in plain words: what the reports say, how the test results changed, what the medicines are commonly used for, and what treatments may cost. It is invite-only and opens only with an access code.
What G-CARE is not
- It is not a doctor and does not give medical advice, diagnose, or tell anyone to start, stop or change a medicine.
- Its explanations are made with AI and checked by AI against sources. No doctor has reviewed them yet. They can be wrong.
- For any decision, ask the treating doctors. In an emergency, call the hospital or go to the nearest emergency department.
What information we use, and why
- The scanned medical papers a family member shares with us (reports, prescriptions, discharge summaries, bills and insurance papers), and the questions asked in the chat.
- We use them only to explain those papers to the people who hold an access code for that patient.
- We keep a log of which code opened G-CARE and when, and a record of chat questions and answers, so that we can check the answers for mistakes and safety.
Who else handles the information
- Anthropic (USA) runs the AI model (Claude). Chat questions and a summary of the papers, with names, date of birth and hospital numbers removed, are sent to it. Under its business terms it does not use them to train its models and deletes them within 30 days, except content flagged for safety, which may be kept longer.
- Cloudflare carries the encrypted connection to G-CARE.
- The papers themselves are stored on the G-CARE team's computer in India.
Consent
The papers belong to the patient. We need the patient's own permission (or that of a lawful guardian) before using them. If the patient asks us to stop, we stop and delete the papers.
Your choices
- You can ask to see, correct or delete the information, or withdraw consent at any time.
- We keep the information only for the pilot and delete it when the pilot ends or when you ask.
Grievances
Grievance officer: to be named before the pilot opens to more families. Until then, contact the person who gave you your access code, and we will reply within a month.
